Like A Cotton Candy Cadillac…
One Song, Two Different Ways
A true sign of a great song lies in the fact that it can be performed in different ways. Case in point: Seven Nation Army.
We have the gritty rock version by The White Stripes.
And the slow funk version by Nostalgia 77.
Official Movie Websites
As we head into 2009, two major movies are updating their official sites. The Star Trek movie site gives you the feeling that you’re zipping down a starship corridor. There’s a good number of wallpapers, icons, and images to dress up your computer desktop. The Watchmen movie site has the third trailer up now, and is in the process of adding actor and character information. I’m impressed by the little details, like the sound of the angry mob, and the wisps of smoke coming from the Comedian’s cigar.
I’m definitely looking forward to next year.
Christmas Wishlist
Due to the economy, I’m spending less money on gifts this holiday season. I also am not asking for much. The one thing I would like, however is this book: The Wonderful World Of Albert Kahn. The book contains a beautiful collection of images from the early 20th century.
This collection is unique for several reasons. For one, the images are in color. Around this time period, color photography was still very new. There is also an incredible amount of diversity.
The idea to photograph the world in color was the idea of French banker and philanthropist Albert Kahn. His goal was to use these images to promote cultural understanding. Kahn’s life story is both inspiring and tragic.
As far as I know, the book is only available in the UK, but can be shipped to the US. Due to the state of the US dollar, it’ll cost me at least $50. I’m adding this book to my wish list, in the hopes that the family (or friends) sees it.
