An avatar is a computer user’s representation of himself or herself. They are used on internet forums, blogs, media sites (such as You Tube and Lastfm), etc. The most commonly used type of avatar is a small (96 x 96 to 150 x 150 pixel), square-shaped graphic close to the user’s post. Avatars may represent different parts of a users persona, beliefs, interests or social status.
